In 1989, brothers Jim and Bill Bord founded Bord Masonry. Bord Masonry built residential and commercial structures throughout Central and Northern Wisconsin. They became well known for their unique stone and brick designs. The products they used to create these designs were difficult to find locally, so Bord Masonry started manufacturing its own stone products out of concrete. Like many start-up companies, their story began in Jim’s garage, where they made unique stone products from a lightweight concrete mix. Today, you can see Bord Masonry stone on projects throughout Wisconsin.
Once the Bord brothers realized they could make their own exterior building materials from concrete, they wanted to expand their product line and offer other manufactured products. With the popularity of log homes in Wisconsin, Jim and Bill became intrigued by the idea of offering worry-free concrete log siding. They began researching the log home market to see why consumers would choose a concrete log over a real log. The more people they spoke to, the more they were amazed with the amount of time and money being spent on log home maintenance.
During the winter of 2000, Jim and Bill began their mission of creating a complete, affordable, maintenance-free concrete log siding system. NextGen Logs was born. Their ultimate goal was to design a product that would revolutionize the log home market. The brothers spent countless hours trying to create a concrete log that would not only replicate the look of real wood, but also protect the structure’s R-value and allow for proper ventilation. Through extensive research and product development, Jim and Bill introduced their first concrete log to the market in 2001.
Today, you can see NextGen Logs’ concrete log siding and fiber cement siding on homes throughout the United States and Canada.
